Wesley G Vaughn
Wesley began making up songs when in the first grade. In his teens he began singing in church choir, which he still does. He also sang in high school and college choirs, and was in a traveling music group. Wesley has led singing and conducted choirs. He also started a youth choir at his church, which continued for 17 years.
In college he began writing music. It was not performed publicly until a few years later. Since then he has been singing his songs in the local church. His music is almost entirely Scripture-based; the message and words come first. Several lyrics have been inspired by sermons and lessons. His music employs many styles.
In 1981, he won a quarterfinalist award in the Lyric Competition of the American Song Festival for “The WORD,” a poetic paraphrase of John 1:1-5,9-14. In 2008 he was privileged to performed “They Stood for Their Faith” in the presence of Brother Andrew, a.k.a. “God’s Smuggler.”
Currently Wesley is an Adjunct Professor of Bible for Ohio Christian University at its Dover site. He also writes articles for publication and is working on novels. His other interests are teaching, gardening, photography and cooking. He lives near Dover, Ohio, with his wife Patty.
